Product identity
Product and variant title, quantity, and SKU when one exists.
A Shopify order screen contains everything needed to transact. A production bench needs a smaller artifact: the exact item, quantity, SKU, and public choices that tell someone what to make.
Shopify line-item properties are name-and-value pairs attached to a specific item. Themes and customization tools commonly use them for engraving text, monograms, colors, uploaded-file references, and other buyer choices.
Product and variant title, quantity, and SKU when one exists.
The visible line-item properties the customer reviewed with the purchase.
An order reference sufficient for the maker to reconcile the finished item.
Remove navigation, payment status, marketing panels, and unrelated order detail.
A maker normally does not need a buyer’s email address, phone number, billing details, or full shipping address to engrave a name or select a thread color. Keep those fields in Shopify unless the production step genuinely requires them.
Use clear property names such as “Engraving,” “Thread color,” or “Reference file” so the customer and maker read the same instruction.
Confirm the public values are present and usable. A blank or ambiguous choice should stop the item before it reaches the bench.
Group each item with its own quantity, SKU, and customization values. Preserve line breaks and long values rather than clipping the instruction.
Keep the order reference on the sheet so the completed piece can return to fulfillment without carrying unnecessary customer data through the workshop.
For an occasional personalized order, a handwritten card or carefully edited printout may be enough. Use the free editable production-sheet template to try the handoff before adding software. If the details belong in the package too, use the free Liquid guide or buy the $149 packing-slip setup for a block tailored to your field names.
The moment staff repeatedly copy the same item fields out of Shopify, the handoff becomes a candidate for automation. The standard is not “more software.” It is fewer transcription steps, fewer irrelevant fields at the bench, and an artifact a maker can trust without reopening the entire order.
BenchCue pulls the item, quantity, SKU, and public customization choices into a maker-ready production sheet. It is $7 monthly with a seven-day trial. Shopify App Store review is currently pending, so the public page shows the workflow without pretending installation is available yet.
